The Cartoonist who Joked about Jews--and went to Jail
The Hypocrisy of the West when It Comes to Free Speech

It was about 25 years ago when the headlines about Free Speech's death in
England began making their rounds. A gifted cartoonist, Robert Edwards, had done
the unthinkable: He dared to laugh at Jews. You can laugh about lots of things
in the world; but, as he learned the hard way, Jews are supposed to be
off-limits. For this, he went to jail--for a year at that.
The idea of making the cartoons began with a talk among some of his colleagues.
They knew he was an exceptionally gifted cartoonist, and conversations soon
began, focused on using his talent and keen sense of humor to make people aware
of the propaganda with which they are indoctrinated. But Robert Edwards and his
colleagues decided that this would be no feeble attempt on their part to awaken
folks. If they wanted to be successful in their quest to educate people, while
giving them a laugh at the same time, they'd have to hit hard. The cartoon
newspaper that was to be created would be a mass-printing, and it was to be
distributed everywhere.
Edwards got to work. With the stroke of his pen, he drew dozens of the most
controversial comics ever to grace the streets of England. The press-run was
150,000--what you might expect from a regular-sized newspaper--and they were
handed out across England. "They even appeared in boxes outside a school in
Dundee in Scotland," noted Robert Edwards. The name "Stormer" was given to the
cartoon pages, as if a gathering storm was appearing on the horizon.
To say that the cartoons were "politically incorrect" might be the
understatement of the millennium. He
joked about how Menachem Begin,
an Israeli prime minister, had been involved
in terrorism--specifically, the murder of dozens of English people at the King
David Hotel in Israel. Edwards also joked about the propaganda surrounding the
Holocaust and how Jews exaggerate things beyond belief, then comparing the
Holocaust propaganda to the
very real atrocity that occurred in Dresden after the war when civilian
populations were murdered with incendiary bombs used for that explicit purpose.
Needless
to say, it upset the Jews. No one is allowed to make fun of their "tragedy," nor
is anyone allowed to compare it to other atrocities in history. No one. And
especially not in a cartoon.
Indeed, Robert Edwards was the first person in Europe to be arrested for
Holocaust denial, for he dared to question the Holocaust and all the propaganda
surrounding it. This occurred in 1981, and all the fuss was over a comic,
at that!
In addition to the cartoon about the Holocaust, there was one comic in
particular that really angered the Jews, causing them to incessantly froth at
the mouth in a drooling hate. They felt that they had to punish Robert Edwards
for this; they just couldn't let non-Jews make fun of THEM. After all,
weren't they supposed to be the Chosen Race? This other cartoon that really
upset them was only three panes long. Three panes. Yet, for daring to make this
cartoon, Edwards felt the full wrath of England's Thought Police--the Board of
Deputies of British Jews. And, while they called themselves "Deputies," they
were in fact the Sheriffs there.
The cartoon that generated the hatred of the British Board of Deputy Jews was
about "authenticated" cases of Jewish
Ritual Murder. For those not familiar with this topic, Jews were banished
from England in
1290
for this--just as they were also banished from Spain for this, as one of the
reasons, in 1492. In fact, it is doubtful that you'd find a country in all of
Europe where Jews hadn't suffered reprisals for reportedly engaging in this
wicked crime. Jews probably thought--how dare that Gentile make fun of Jews and
bring up this little-known topic to the forefront of the nation, while mocking
us at the same time!
Robert Edwards must be punished--the Jews said in unison.
And so he was.
Edwards described what happened next:
"A
complaint was forwarded to the Attorney General and the Director of Public
Prosecutions by the Board of Deputies of British Jews. The prosecution counsel
was a Jew by the name of Alan Green. He was later awarded the position of DPP
but was soon after arrested for kerb-crawling in a red light district in North
London--his career ending in disgrace. The Board of Deputies was not
represented."
Edwards was--and still is--an exceptional cartoonist. If he had
chosen
the easy path and played the role of the politically correct--fawning over Jews
as if they're the Chosen Race, just as the neo-conservatives do today--there can
be no doubt he would have made it to the top; his cartoons would probably be
gracing the pages of the London Times, the New York Times, and wherever else
exceptionally funny and witty cartoons go. However, being an exceptional man of
principle--and having a matching sense of humor with which few can compare--he
chose the path that only the brave follow.
Consequently, Edwards suffered. Aside from the year in jail he had to spend, he
lost his job. And he lost his home. He had to literally start anew.
Robert Edwards knows what he is talking about when he says, "The claim from the
West that it cherishes liberties such as freedom of expression is simply not
true--from a very personal position." He is right.
You can joke about a lot of things in the world today.
You can joke about Muslims--which is clearly demonstrated by the more recent
cartoon-depictions in Europe and elsewhere of Mohammed with a bomb in his
turban. In case you hadn't heard, the
neo-con editor who published the cartoons
said
he would also publish some Iranian cartoons about the Holocaust to
demonstrate how he promotes Free Speech for all. BBC News later reported
that the editor "was
sent on indefinite leave after suggesting he would print Iranian cartoons of the
Holocaust." A French paper published the cartoons of Mohammed, and it also
said that it will publish the Holocaust cartoons. Of course, needless to say, to
do such would be illegal there, demonstrating the neo-con hypocrisy that you'd
expect.
You can joke about Christians--evident by the mainstream press and artists who
supported the "artwork" called "Piss Christ" a few years back.
You can joke about Catholics.
You can joke about whites, blacks, Mexicans, etc., ad nauseam.
Still, it seems as if, even today, in every country, you still can't joke about
one thing:
Jews.
