FBI/Congressional Record on King

Can you imagine going missing from a hospital room in September, but they only find you in December in the ceiling of the ward? This is almost typical of how hospitals that most people must go to are today in South Africa, especially for people that don't have medical insurance. You cannot even begin to imagine the hygiene of this place, which shouldn't even be called a hospital. I wish you could see the two provincial hospitals in Port Elizabeth; they are extremely disgusting.  Yet we as tax payers must keep quiet or suffer our government's wrath.  Not everyone can afford medical aid. People get shot in government hospitals, get raped or even killed. Genocide is everywhere.--From someone stuck in the Living Hell known as South Africa today

Kalafong Hospital staff made a gruesome discovery on Christmas Eve when a stench led them to the decomposing body of a man.

The man, believed to be a 41-year-old former patient, was found by staff in the ceiling of ward 21, a male medical ward.

Hospital spokesperson Catherine Tladi said: "Staff working in the ward were alerted to the smell. One of the staff members went up into the ceiling to have a look and found the man's body.

"The badly decomposed body was taken to the hospital mortuary.

"We are waiting for a forensic report to identify the man," she said.

Tladi was unsure how the man got into the ceiling, saying an internal investigation into the incident would be conducted soon.

Police spokesperson Inspector Paul Ramaloko confirmed the discovery, adding that police opened an inquest docket and were investigating the circumstances surrounding the man's death.

Ramaloko said the man had apparently been admitted to the hospital as a patient on September 23 but went missing four days later.

He said the man's identity could not be released until a forensic report had positively identified him. Ramaloko was unable to say why the man was admitted to the hospital.

This is the second time that a patient had died at the Kalafong Hospital after going missing.

Atteridgeville pensioner Frans Moepi was found dead on the hospital's premises on March 24 2004.

Moepi's body was found by two contract workers who were cutting grass behind the hospital's nursing home on the south-eastern side of the hospital.

Moepi, who suffered from memory loss, disappeared from the hospital on March 6 2004.

A team comprising health authorities, the police and the Tshwane Metro Police was set up to look for him.
