Paul Grubach Responds to Dr. Mathis's Comments
Dr. Mathis,
Your article, "Paul Grubach: Master of the False Analogy," is
jammed packed with falsehoods, fallacious logic, misleading claims,
etc., etc., Let me give you just one simple example.
Concerning the evolutionary psychologist and scholar of the Jewish
Question, Kevin MacDonald, you write: "[Paul Grubach's] use of Kevin
MacDonald as an expert is humorous because he is an anti-Semite of the
biological kind, believing that Jews are the way we supposedly are
because of our genetics and not external circumstances."
This is a very distorted description of Dr. MacDonald's theories, and it
shows that either you have never read his books or you simply don't
understand his viewpoint. MacDonald is saying that genetic factors are
an important reason as to why the Jewish people are the way
they are, but not the only reason. His theory also states that
the Jewish people are the way they are also because of
religious factors, cultural factors, and the external circumstances of
the Jewish people--and not just because of genetic factors.
To see that your description is a distortion of MacDonald's theories,
one only has to look at the first volume of his trilogy,
A People That Shall Dwell Alone. MacDonald points out the
solid body of scientific evidence that shows that the Jewish People do
in fact differ on a genetic basis from non-Jewish populations. Even
more recent scientific evidence uncovered after MacDonald published his
tome vindicates his viewpoint. He shows that this significant genetic
difference between Jewish and non-Jewish populations is the result of
some degree of genetic separation between Jews and non-Jews.
MacDonald then states: "This genetic separation has been maintained by a
variety of cultural practices: religious practices and beliefs, language
and mannerisms, physical appearance, customs, occupations, and
physically separated areas of residence which were administered by Jews
according to Jewish civil and criminal law (p.c)." Elsewhere in the
same book he states that his theories "have no implication that Judaism
is in some sense ecologically or genetically determined (p.9)."
He states here and elsewhere that the Jewish community is the way it is,
partly because of genetics and partly because of cultural/religious
practices and the external circumstances of the Jewish people. Your
statement--MacDonald believes "that Jews are the way we supposedly are
because of our genetics and not external circumstances."--is a
distortion, if not a blatant falsehood.
Furthermore, your label of him as an "anti-Semite" tells us more about
your own Jewish ethnocentrism and Jewish cultural conditioning than
about Kevin MacDonald. Your culture has taught you to label any and
every legitimate opponent and critic of the Jewish people as "an evil
anti-Semite." You can't face up to the truths that MacDonald has
brought forth, so you attempt to discredit and silence him by using the
charge of "anti-Semitism."
But let's give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume that
Dr. MacDonald is an "anti-Semite," i.e., he hates all Jews. Even if
Dr. MacDonald does hate Jews, he still could be an totally credible
expert about the Jewish people. Evil and neurotic men who hate all Jews
can hold objectively true opinions and viewpoints about the Jews.
People who hate all Jews can uncover valid evidence about and make true
theories about Jews. To assume that MacDonald's theories are false, or
that he is not an expert on the Jewish Question, because he allegedly
hates Jews is to succumb to the ad hominem fallacy. A man's
viewpoints and theories are to evaluated independently of his motives or
psychological makeup.
I don't wish to imply that Dr. MacDonald hates Jews. He doesn't. The
point I am establishing here is that he is a great scholar of the
Jewish Question, and Andrew
Mathis simply can't face that fact.
A shorter version of this will appear on RODOH.
To be continued...
