DVD: Slave Trade in the World Today

by Mark Farrell

This video, created in the 20th century, takes you on a voyage across Africa, and shows you some images that you won't soon forget: slave trading, and its accompanying horrors.  While this color video was created a few years ago, it has been digitally re-mastered and its color enhanced; and its timeless topic will be of utmost interest to those who are fascinated with life in deepest Africa.

The video is somewhat illuminating in that it exposes the horrid actions of slavery across the plains of Africa.  For those who incessantly blame white folks for the slavery of the past, you'll be shocked when you discover that slave trading, whipping, etc., still occur, with Africans selling their children and kinfolks to other Africans and Arabs.

While this documentary focuses on the slave trade, there are also some other scenes that deal with African customs, such as mating rituals, voodoo, harems, polygamy, concubine, etc.

The video begins with a discussion by Lord Moyne.  He describes how slavery still exists today in Saudi Arabia, which he suggests is neglected due to America's oil interests.  He describes how, even in modern times, an African was purchased for a mere 37-pound, 10 (roughly, $74 U.S.).

While the people of Saudi Arabia are shown with great wealth and gigantic oil wells, video is shown of some slaves pumping water with a pump made out of wood, so that a camel may have some water to drink.

Children of the oil-rich are then shown.  Many have their own personal slaves, which they received on their birthdays.  These slaves carry their books for the oil-rich children.

During the course of the movie, some Africans subject themselves to whipping, while giving broad smiles, with the hope that some nearby Arabs who are watching these events unfold will accept them as their personal slaves.

One white woman is interviewed.  She had made the mistake of agreeing to be a sultan's wife--one of several.  She had lived there for two years, only to be tossed out in the middle of the desert when he grew weary of her.  The film crew goes into the sultan's home, and films him and his six wives, though he also is said to have about 400 concubines, and another 1,000 slaves added on to that number.

You will be shocked and amazed to learn that slavery is still occurring around the world--even in this day and age--something which many thought was eradicated in 1865 when America "officially" ended its slavery.

Below: Welt marks that a black received from being whipped.  He allowed this and smiled the entire time, with the hope that he might become a slave to an Arab master.

Below: Investigators come across a bunch of children being "herded" across the lands by black slave traders, who had intended to take them to the slave market.

Below: Black children are shown who were crippled by other blacks who kept them as slaves.  These children would be used to help beg for money, with their pitiful conditions often gaining money for their black slave masters.

Below: Some of the children show their pitiful physical conditions, caused by their former black slave masters.

Below: These are some of the tools that the black slave masters used to cripple the black children, to keep them constantly in such state in an effort to raise money from their pitiful, slave-master induced conditions

Below: The object of torture used by one black slave master to cripple one black child is shown
